If you registered a domain by mistake, we may be able to cancel it and refund you, as long as you contact us quickly.
Which domains can be cancelled
- gTLDs such as .com, .net and .org: we can usually cancel a new registration if you ask within 72 hours of registering it. The registry must accept the cancellation, so we can’t guarantee it.
- Country-code domains such as .de, .uk or .fr: most registries don’t allow this, so these registrations usually can’t be cancelled or refunded.
How to ask for a cancellation
Email getsupport@moniker.com from your account username email address. Include:
- the domain name
- the date you registered it
- that you’d like the registration cancelled and refunded
We’ll email you once the domain has been cancelled. The refund goes to your Moniker account balance, where you can use it for another order. If you’d rather have the money paid back to you, see How to withdraw prepaid funds from your account.
Renewals you didn’t mean to make
Renewed by mistake: for some domain extensions we send renewals to the registry later, close to the expiry date. Until then, a renewal can often be cancelled and refunded. See What does deferred renewal mean?.
Transferred away just after an auto-renewal: if your domain auto-renewed and you then transferred it to another registrar, the renewal year may not have been applied. Email us with the domain name and invoice number. If the renewal wasn’t used, we’ll refund it to your original payment method.
Good to know
- Always send refund requests from your account username email address. We can’t act on requests from other addresses.
- Trustee Service renewals have their own rules. See Refund eligibility for Trustee Service Renewal.
