How do I transfer a domain to another registrar?

Transferring your domain from Moniker to another registrar is simple and can be completed in just a few steps all from your online account.

 

1. Locate and Unlock Your Domain

For Most Domains:

  1. Log in to your Moniker account.
  2. Click on the domain you wish to transfer.
  3. In the domain settings, go to Advanced Options and select EPP Auth Info to view your authorization code.
  4. If your domain is locked, unlock it to enable the transfer. The page will refresh; the code will appear in your dashboard, next to Transfer Auth Code.
    • Tip: Many domains (such as .COM and other gTLDs) must be unlocked before transfer. Some country-code domains (ccTLDs) do not use a lock or unlock process.

Email Delivery:


If you prefer, you can also have the authorization code emailed to your account’s registered email address. This option is available in your dashboard for your convenience.

 

2. Start Your Transfer at the New Registrar

Transfers are always initiated at the new (receiving) registrar. Start by opening a transfer request for your domain there. To complete the process, you’ll need your domain’s Authorization Code (also known as EPP code, transfer code, or auth code).

 

3. Provide the Authorization Code to Your New Registrar

Copy the authorization code and submit it to the new registrar to proceed with the transfer. Make sure the domain remains unlocked throughout the process.

Important:

  • Recently registered or updated domains: Due to ICANN/registry policies, you cannot transfer domains within 60 days of registration, transfer, or changes to the registrant's details.
  • gTLDs (like .COM) and many others no longer require an additional transfer confirmation by email due to GDPR regulations.
  • Some ccTLD extensions have different requirements. If you don’t see an option to unlock your domain, or if the authorization code is not required, your domain may fall under this category.

4. Approve Transfers Quickly (Optional)

Once you’ve started the transfer at your new registrar, you can expedite approval directly within your Moniker account using the available transfer approval option. This allows you to speed up the process yourself no need to wait!

If needed, our support team can also manually approve the outgoing transfer for you, but we encourage you to use the self-service tool for faster results.

 

Note: If you choose not to manually approve the transfer, don’t worry the transfer will still complete automatically within 5–7 days.
