Paying to Restore Deleted Domains

Overview

If a domain has been deleted or has moved into the Redemption/Restore period after expiring, you can often bring it back by paying a restoration fee plus at least one year of renewal. The exact restore price varies by domain extension (TLD) and will be shown to you before checkout.

What you need

- Access to the account that manages the domain(s)
- The domain must still be eligible for restore (not yet in final Pending Delete or fully dropped)
- A valid payment method

Check eligibility and see the restore price

1) Sign in to your account and go to your Domains list.
2) Locate the domain. If available, filter or sort by status to find items marked Expired/Redemption/Deleted.
3) Click the domain to open its details. If the domain is eligible for restoration, you will see a Restore option and the price, or a banner indicating the restore fee plus the renewal term that will be added.

Restore and pay for a domain

1) Open the domain details page.
2) Choose the Restore option. Confirm the renewal term (typically at least 1 year is required).
3) Add to cart and proceed to checkout.
4) Review the order summary. You will see the restoration fee plus the renewal cost and any taxes/fees.
5) Select a payment method and complete the purchase.

In case the option is not available, contact our support team.

Payment methods and billing

- Supported methods typically include credit/debit cards, PayPal, and account balance/credit where available. Options may vary by region.
- Prices are shown in your accounts billing currency and may include applicable taxes or VAT at checkout.
- You will receive an order confirmation and invoice/receipt by email after successful payment.

What happens after payment

- The status of the domain will change from Deleted/Redemption to Active once restoration completes.
- Most restorations complete within minutes to 24 hours, but some TLDs can take up to 72 hours.
- If your nameservers and DNS records remain unchanged, your website and email can begin working again once the domain is active and DNS propagates (typically within a few hours, up to 24-48 hours in some cases).

Troubleshooting

- No Restore option shown: The domain may be beyond the restore window (Pending Delete) or already dropped. In that case, consider placing a backorder or re-registering if/when it becomes available.
- Restore price not visible: Refresh the domain details page or add the restore to cart to see final pricing. Mixed TLDs in bulk may show individual fees per domain at checkout.
- Payment declined: Verify card details, available funds, and 3-D Secure/OTP requirements. Try another payment method or contact your bank. You can also retry by clearing the cart and starting checkout again.
- Bulk checkout error: Try restoring in smaller batches to identify any ineligible domains that may block the order, or restore those eligible domains individually.
- Restored but services still down: Confirm the domain is Active, nameservers are correct, and DNS records exist and point to your hosting/email provider. DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours.
- Restored wrong domain: Contact support immediately. Restoration fees are generally non-refundable due to registry costs, but support can review your options.

FAQs

- What is included in the restore price? The restore price typically includes a registry restoration fee plus at least one year of renewal. The total is shown at checkout before you pay.
- Will my original expiration date change? In most cases, the new expiration date is extended by one additional year from the original expiration date upon completion of restoration.
- Can I restore without renewing? No. Restoration requires renewal for at least one year.
- Can I partially pay a restore fee? No. Full payment is required before restoration is processed.
- Will my website and email content come back automatically? If your hosting and content are still intact and your DNS is pointed correctly, service can resume once the domain is active. If hosting or mailboxes were canceled or purged, you may need to restore them separately with your provider.
